Disney’s International Labor Standards (ILS) Program seeks to foster safe, inclusive, and respectful workplaces in the supply chain. The program oversees labor standards compliance across the extensive supply chain for Disney-branded consumer products. The Program establishes requirements for licensees and vendors to monitor their supply chains for compliance with relevant labor laws and the labor provisions of Disney’s Supply Chain Code of Conduct; specifies where products may be produced; provides for review of social compliance audit reports and the issuance of corrective action plans to promote improvement in working conditions; and facilitates supply chain labor-related training.
The Manager, Social Compliance & Ethical Sourcing - International Labor Standards role is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the Company’s ILS Program in their assigned markets - Southeast Asia, South Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.
The Manager is responsible for:
- Engaging with the executive team of business units of their assigned markets on ILS issues, including the development of plans and strategies for the successful implementation and management of ILS policies, requirements and initiatives.
- Identifying ILS risks and opportunities specific to business operations in the assigned markets.
- Working with business unit personnel to successfully embed the Company's ILS policies, requirements and initiatives into their operations and daily decision-making including facilitating the resolution of contract negotiations and disputes in a manner that advances the Company’s ILS objectives.
- Supporting business unit personnel in the execution of the ILS Program, as well as providing guidance and interpretation of ILS Program requirements to the Company's licensee and vendor base in partnership with responsible business unit personnel.
- Facilitating and coordinating communication of ILS-related information to all internal and external stakeholders in the market, working collaboratively with ILS leadership and corporate communications personnel to help ensure consistency of messages.
- Providing insight and interpretation of reports to the business units with respect performance against ILS policies, requirements and initiatives.
- Administering ILS Program processes and procedures for which ILS has responsibility.
- Representing the Company at external events relating to ILS.
This role will report to the Regional Director, APAC, International Labor Standards.
Responsibilities:
Monitoring & Improvement
- Develop and implement activities, tools, projects, and initiatives that will improve the performance of business unit personnel, licensees, vendors and facilities.
- Lead ILS Program relationship management team in the assigned markets.
- Oversee program-critical activities to ensure the Company has visibility to production sites and that licensees and vendors produce in authorized facilities.
- Coordinate with business unit personnel to implement and maintain licensee/vendor accountability mechanisms for ILS performance and report compliance issues to responsible business unit and Company personnel.
Business Support
- Work with business unit management and other internal stakeholder groups to encourage alignment of business practices and operations with ILS objectives.
- Work with Legal, Contract Administration, Corporate Communications, Finance, Government Affairs, and Anti-Piracy teams on ILS-related issues.
- Report on trending issues & BU/LV Performance.
- Deliver and facilitate training to increase awareness, accountability and consistent application of ILS policies and procedures.
- Develop and implement market relevant education and communication materials, and tools for business and licensees/vendors.
External collaboration, engagement and program support
- Engage external stakeholders and participate in brand collaboration initiatives through identifying and building partnerships with NGO’s and multilateral organizations in the assigned markets as agreed with ILS leadership.
- Represent ILS at external meetings, panel discussions and conferences
Other general requirements
- As necessary, manage local ILS personnel to ensure successful implementation of the ILS Program across business units and markets, including relationship management, risk assessment, internal and external stakeholder engagement and collaboration, reporting and communications, education and guidance.
- Promote integration of practices and procedures across the ILS global team.
- Work with Human Resources to create and deliver development plans to recognize high performing personnel.
- Develop and maintain succession plans and budgets for respective markets.
- Manage human resources and budget in support of program goals
Requirements:
- At least 6+ years of experience in social compliance or ethical sourcing, with an international corporate enterprise with good depth of experience working with senior management.
- Experience working within international corporation management structures.
- Good influencing skills.
- Strong business acumen and experience.
- High proficiency in written and spoken English.
- High standard of communication and IT skills.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Social Sciences, or other related fields required.
- Master degree preferred.
