Job Summary:

JOB SUMMARY:
The Vice President of Global Security – APAC, leads a regional security team that provides local oversight, assistance and response for all security needs at The Walt Disney Company. Reporting to the Head of International Regions, Parks and Resorts, this role is responsible for event security, production security, studio security, asset and content protection, investigative support, travel security, workplace security, security technology, and incident monitoring across the region.  


Overseeing a regional Security Operations Centre in Singapore, and leading teams from Shanghai to Seoul, Melbourne to Mumbai, this is a rare and exciting opportunity for any security leader. With the expectation that the holder of this role will have exceptional leadership qualities and wealth of experience, it is also strongly desirable to have extensive expertise of the APAC region. Regularly working alongside internal TWDC Global Security partners (including the Disney Cruise Line team with the new Singapore base), this role requires strong collaborative skills and the ability to seamlessly work with external partners, be it security vendors, local law enforcement or intelligence agencies. 

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Develops and implements a regional security strategy to assess and mitigate threats to guests, employees, company assets, sites and intellectual property. 
  • Oversees risk assessments, security management plans, procedures, training and exercises across the region. 
  • Build and maintains a diverse and dynamic team through strategic succession planning, development, coaching, counselling and managing performance across the APAC region. 
  • Direct regional crisis response efforts with relevant teams, ensuring effective communication and coordination during emergencies or security incidents.
  • Identify and analyze loss indicators for company assets and businesses, and develop appropriate, cost-effective recommendations; develop methods and procedures for consistency and compliance with established security standards; participates in regional audits and self-assessments. 
  • Accomplish enterprise and International Global Security objectives by establishing action plans, timetables, and outcome measurements; obtaining and allocating resources; reviewing progress and making mid-course corrections when necessary.
  • Develops and leads resource networks in support of all or some of regional risk assessments, investigations, intelligence, security systems architecture/design and other programs and services evaluated as enhancements to the security function. 
  • Briefs Line of Business management and operations teams on status of security issues of impact and agrees on plans and tactics, to mitigate those.  
  • Assists develop and implement security education and awareness programs within the region.
  • Develops and maintains professional relationships with local law enforcement and government agencies, appropriate foreign national agencies and private sector counterparts. 
  • Achieve financial goals by developing and monitoring budgets; controlling and reducing costs; optimizing efficiencies. 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 15-20 years’ experience and demonstrated record of success in positions of increasing responsibility within law enforcement, public sector security, intelligence, insider threat, crisis management organization and/or related private sector organization, including 5+ years of experience in a significant leadership role.
  • Significant experience of working in the Asia Pacific region or working with international partners to achieve a common goal. 
  • Ability to anticipate, influence and assist the organization to assess and rapidly adjust to changing conditions and trends in a foreign or multi-cultural environment 
  • Proven track record of leading, managing, and developing employees, with clear business succession planning.
  • Track record of effectively and immediately leading the response to unexpected incidents and crises, reprioritizing tasks and focus, and communicating with accurate information and guidance.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with wide range of individuals and manage teams from diverse backgrounds, countries of origin, and at varying levels within the corporate structure. In addition, an ability to lead effectively under pressure (incidents, crises, tight deadlines, etc.).
  • Superior interpersonal skills: an ability to work with a diverse range of stakeholders, partners, and colleagues.
  • Ability to manage the organizational and cultural change efforts needed to ensure new, innovative concepts, business practices, and technologies are fully adopted and integrated into the business.
  • Ability to balance strategic, regional, and local priorities, and developing and executing effective risk mitigation plans.
  • Utilize strategic resource allocation through prioritization during annual operating plan process and provide a continual review process to monitor approved budget.
  • Quick-learner with ability to take direction, work under pressure, and operate as part of a team Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong Team Player – ability to build & foster collaborative partnerships across functions & departments
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required. Attendance to meetings outside of working hours may be required.

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree and strong grasp of written and spoken English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree, preferably in international studies, governmental relations, criminal justice, juris doctorate, intelligence analysis, and/or crisis management. Secondary language skill from APAC region is desirable.
