Disney Digital Entertainment, a division of Disney Experiences, is embarking on a mission to create the ‘digital front door’ for The Walt Disney Company—bringing all of Disney’s magic together into a new, interactive universe.

We are building a world-class engineering team to drive this transformation and are seeking a Senior Online Engineer to join our efforts. As a Senior Online Engineer, you will contribute to the development of high-performance, scalable platforms that support Disney’s interactive experiences for a global audience. This role can be based remotely in Sweden, Denmark, Finland or Norway.

What You Will Do

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-volume, transactional software platform infrastructure that is robust, scalable, maintainable, and extendable.

  • Develop platform software design specifications, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and scalability requirements.

  • Create and optimize application programming interfaces (APIs) to meet the data needs of the organization and integrate seamlessly with partner platforms.

  • Write reliable and efficient code capable of handling massive datasets and supporting millions of users worldwide.

  • Solve complex technical challenges, contributing to the continuous improvement of tools, systems, and processes.

  • Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver seamless integrations and ensure robust platform performance.

  • Mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and technical excellence within the team.

  • Participate in short- and mid-term strategic planning, contributing to technical designs and supporting project objectives.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven expertise in developing scalable, high-performance platform infrastructure for large-scale applications.

  • Strong proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: Go, Rust, Zig, or C#, with a willingness to learn and adopt new technologies.

  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement APIs with an extendable architecture, ensuring seamless integration across platforms and services.

  • Experience working on high-concurrency systems optimized for low-latency performance and handling massive datasets.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a focus on delivering practical, reliable solutions to complex challenges.

  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to mentor less experienced engineers while working effectively in a distributed team environment.

  • 5-8 years of progressively complex experience in software development, with a focus on backend engineering for large-scale applications.

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
