The Technical Animator role is responsible for supporting the Animation department to identify issues, problem solve tasks and improve animation tools and workflows relating to Animation heavy projects within the studio.
What will you be doing?
- Providing a layer of technical support within the Animation department in the form of fixing scene or tool issues.
- Following up on tickets from other departments related to Animation
- Helping to develop animation tools for show specific solutions
- Aiding in the creation efficient and aesthetically pleasing Animation QC passes
- Testing and providing feedback on the adoption of new software versions or tools related to Animation
To be a contributing member of this team, you will have a mix of these skills:
- At least 3 years of relevant and professional experience in a similar role within a VFX or animation studio
- Ability to prioritise tasks and communicate those tasks to other collaborators within the studio
- An 'under the hood' technical understanding of Maya's animation and rigging tools and software
- Solid knowledge of digital character rigging techniques and fundamentals
- A firm understanding of the Python scripting language and how to use it within a VFX or animation pipeline
- A willingness to learn new software and pipeline workflows
- Excellent time management and communication skills
- Positive attitude and a team player
