Job Summary:

The Walt Disney Company (headquartered out of Burbank, California) operates a number of independent businesses in Canada, including:  Disney Entertainment (Studios, General Entertainment and Streaming), ESPN, Disney Experiences including Parks, Disney Cruise Line and Consumer Products businesses. The majority of these businesses are located at the Canadian corporate headquarters in Toronto, Ontario and operate across a diverse range of entertainment related industries. 

Responsibilities:

Provide support to the Canadian Human Resources Department in the following areas:

  • Employee Onboarding Process Administration
    • Liaise with HRBPs, New Hires, and various stakeholders to ensure a consistent onboarding experience.
    • Complete background checks as required.
    • Conduct New Hire Orientations, introducing company policies, benefits and culture.
    • Serve as the main point of contact for new hires during their onboarding period, addressing any questions they may have.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records.
    • Order ID Badges and ensure facility access.

  • Employee Offboarding Process Administration
    • Manage offboarding process in HRIS and benefits systems.

  • HRIS Administration
    • Process employee status changes and transfers in HRIS systems.
    • Manage country transfer process.
    • Assist with account set up for non-employees.

  • Benefits Administration
    • Manage the administration of employee benefit programs, including enrollment, changes, and terminations.

  • Compliance Training Administration
    • Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training.
    • Send reminders to employees who are out of compliance.

  • Casual Buyer for HR Team
    • Manage monthly accounts payable invoices related to the HR function.
    • Order office supplies.

  • Other HR related activities
    • Support recruitment activities, including scheduling interviews, and conducting reference checks.
    • Assist with quota reporting.
    • Provide assistance to the Canada HR team on Enterprise/International HR programs (e.g. Employee Survey, Diversity & Inclusion and Wellness initiatives) and other local HR projects.
    • Work as back-up for other members of the HR team and support the Canadian HR function with additional duties/reporting as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of progressive Human Resources experience with exposure to the key accountabilities
  • Previous experience working with third party benefit provider is strongly preferred
  • Experience with SAP and Workday is strongly preferred
  • Strong consultative, negotiation, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
  • A team player who has the ability to work independently with minimal supervision when required
  • Strong organization and project management skills/ comfortable working in a dynamic and complex environment
  • Experience working with employees at all levels of the organization
  • Proactive and results orientated with demonstrated success as a relationship builder
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels of the organization
  • Advanced MS Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or equivalent experience
