Position Summary

As the Facilities Assistant at Industrial Light & Magic’s Vancouver studio, your support will be crucial to the smooth running and upkeep of our building and facilities. You'll be a valued member of our Facilities team, consistently performing at a high level to manage and resolve daily operational needs.

Applicants must be currently residing in British Columbia, authorized to work in Canada, and able to provide proof of long-term eligibility (i.e. documentation of Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status).

What You’ll Do

  • Assist with the day-to-day facilities and services of the building to ensure they are consistently and effectively maintained in line with regulations and business needs.

  • Support the Facilities Coordinator with accompanying onsite contractors, ensuring work carried out is completed satisfactorily, and following up on any deficiencies.

  • Help with office project management (moves, refurbishments) and the ongoing management of equipment and furniture (inventory, maintenance schedules, and storage).

  • General office maintenance and repairs as needed.

  • Process and submit service requests to building management for all maintenance and repair requirements.

  • Maintain the studio's aesthetic and ensure a high standard of maintenance by performing daily walkthroughs to identify and resolve any upkeep and cleanliness concerns.

  • Ensure rooms, facilities and equipment are set up appropriately.

  • Maintain  the upkeep of the studio aesthetic, ensuring a high standard of maintenance. 

  • Collaborate with the Facilities Coordinator to ensure the efficient completion of in-house studio maintenance projects.

  • Assist with and oversee Facilities specific projects assigned by the Facilities Manager.

  • Ensure all Health & Safety procedures are adhered to in conjunction with the Facilities Manager.

  • Review all Health & Safety related policies/processes and participate as a member of the Health & Safety team, assisting with Facilities records and documents for the studio.  

  • Log and assist with Facilities requests.

  • Support the team in the handling of heavy or bulky deliveries, ensuring safe and efficient processing.

  • Support the Facilities team with running studio events and programming.

  • Ad hoc administration and Reception work as required.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong knowledge and experience of various hand tools 

  • Education or experience in general building maintenance is desirable

  • Understanding of basic Health & Safety principals and best practices.

  • Physical ability to lift and move equipment, furniture, and supplies and be able to work a physically demanding job, being mobile and on your feet for the majority of the shift

  • Must be able to lift 30lbs 

  • Able to work shifts and availability for weekend work as required

  • Motivated self-starter with excellent organisational and analytical skills

  • Service orientated: committed and driven to provide a positive service to stakeholders (internal staff, team members, etc) 

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

  • Proactive approach and solution focused 

  • Excellent attention to detail 

  • Flexible to changing priorities and schedules

  • Experienced user of MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Google Office Suite.

  • BC Driver’s License is an asset, but not required


 


The hiring range for this position in Vancouver is C$36,900 to C$47,300 per year based on a 40-hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
