Position Summary
ILM Vancouver is growing, and we are looking for an outstanding artist to join our DMS (Digital Model Shop) team. With an emphasis on anatomy and form, as a Senior Creature Modeler you will create three dimensional CG characters, creatures and costumes for production.

What You’ll Do
- Create high end CG creatures, characters and costumes for a variety of feature film and episodic projects
- In building creatures, you will incorporate technical expertise, artistic ability, and a great understanding of visual effects to make sure your asset meet all aesthetic and technical attributes needed for the show
- Collaborate with the Modeling Lead/Supervisor, VFX Supervisor, and Texture Artist to identify and build the “look” for an asset
- Build the geometry, with an understanding of how the asset will be used in the entire production process
- Create face shapes, flex shapes and correctives
- Sculpt in shot correctives to improve and push anatomy and costumes
- Model other elements such as props or smaller hard surface builds as the project's schedule requires
What We’re Looking For
- Portfolio demonstrating great character skills, displaying a strong understanding of anatomy, character design, face shapes, and movement
- Portfolio demonstrating traditional artistic skills including illustration, and sculptural abilities a plus
- 5+ years proven experience creating digital creatures and characters in a VFX studio environment. Additional Animation experience is a plus
- A deep knowledge of film and video post production techniques and a good understanding of the full VFX pipeline
- Strong knowledge of industry standard software
- Knowledge of LINUX is a necessity to navigate through ILM’s production pipeline
The hiring range for this position in Vancouver is C$110,600.00 to C$141,500.00 per year based on a 40-hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A full range of medical, financial, and/or other variable pay or benefits, may be offered dependent on the level and position offered.
