Position Summary
At ILM, Technology Project Managers support and enable Engineering teams to develop tools so our artists can create extraordinary VFX more easily! We also help coach, develop, and enable our teams in ways that empower them to be better collaborators and communicators.
We have two different types of Project Managers at ILM:
Software Development Project Managers (Tech PMs) work with our R&D, Core Pipeline, and IS teams to develop software for our artists and business software for our supporting depts to manage our business.
IT Project Managers (IT PMs) work with our IT and Media Systems teams to manage projects around Data Center build and maintenance, Studio build and maintenance, and Stagecraft Volume build and maintenance.
This internship will be centered around software development project management. This an exciting opportunity to be at the core of ILM, driving the collaboration between software technology and visual effects artistry.

What You Need to Know
You must be a Canadian Citizen or hold Canadian Permanent Resident status
You must be attending an Undergraduate program from a public Canadian post-secondary education institution, and returning to your studies following the internship
This is a paid 4-month internship, beginning May 4, 2026
This role is considered Hybrid, which means you will work onsite at our Vancouver studio and occasionally from home
You will be required to work full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 9am to 6pm
We do not provide assistance for relocation, housing, transportation, or work authorization for internships
What You’ll Do
Manage a defined software development project for ILM's artist tools or artist pipeline in one discipline for the duration of the internship
Assist in gathering and prioritizing project requirements in collaboration with leadership and team members
Partner with the Technology team to set project direction and translate production strategy into a development plan
Define, develop, manage, and document project schedules/milestones. Proactively drive project-related issues to appropriate resolution and plan for contingencies due to production-related risks
Coordinate project progress through effective meetings, use of Jira, and collaboration with technology leadership
What We’re Looking For
You have exceptional verbal and written communications skills: can express yourself concisely, a willingness to speak up, and a conviction to keep everyone informed of progress and issues
You are organized and have a knack for bringing order and structure to fast moving environments
You have a basic understanding of Agile project management frameworks (SCRUM etc.)
Collaboration: a readiness to trust others, be trustworthy, and play nice
Effective time management: the ability to prioritize and multitask
Empathy: an ability to listen intently, understand engineer and artist needs, and translate those needs into project objectives
Creativity: an insightful and analytical thinker and a creative problem solver
Currently enrolled in an accredited graduate program, and working toward a Bachelor's with a major in Business, IT, Computer Science, or a related field
