The Manager-Technical Publications will provide tactical leadership, critical decision making, strategic direction, and daily oversight. In addition to providing leadership to the Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort Technical Publications team, they will collaborate with Walt Disney Imagineering, Engineering Services and other partners to develop, create, and innovate solutions to critical technical information and documentation.
The Manager-Technical Publications will be responsible for leading technical writers, maintaining project schedules, writing and publishing technical information. They also will be responsible for helping define formats, styles, and processes. The Manager-Technical Publications will coordinate with project estimators and schedulers on publications deliverables; track and report the status of publications deliverables to WSA management throughout the life of the project; and assist the Production Studio in final product delivery. They will work closely with senior management from various departments that are involved in content management activities.
The Manager-Technical Publications reports to the Senior Manager, Worldwide Safety Technical Publications.
You Will:
On any given day, as a Manager-Technical Publications, you might:
- Prepare and track departmental publishing plans and schedules to determine resources needed to accomplish defined goals
- Use available technical resources, such as engineering drawings and documents, to critically analyze and make decisions about documentation strategies
- Maintain awareness of the work being done in multiple domestic and international portfolios
- Develop relationships and work closely with partners across all business units
- Assist the Senior Manager and Director in supporting Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) and Integrated Facilities Planning (IFP) projects, performing quality reviews, creating department budgets, and Worldwide Safety Assurance (WSA) Technical Publications department initiatives
- Implement and help manage a Content Management System and help drive future improvements
You Will Have:
Here’s what you need to be successful at this job:
- 8+ years of experience in the technical writing field
- 5+ years of experience coordinating writers, WDI, and/or IFP projects
- 5+ years of experience with schedules, estimating, work plans, and processes
- Knowledge of and experience with Disney and industry safety-related standards, regulations, policies, and practices
- Ability to communicate accurately with integrity, sincerity, and candor within all levels of our organization, including briefing executive management
- Experience gaining consensus while leading improvements in a positive and coordinated manner
- Ability to empower and lead professional teams attuned to an organizational philosophy of excellence, with the ability to be an "out of the box" innovative mind
- A proven eye for business, independent judgment, technical expertise, and hands-on leadership experience
Preferred Qualifications:
It would be great if you also have:
- Leadership experience estimating, implementing, and monitoring documentation creation and sustainment for major projects and entities.
- Disney experience and established relationships with Disney sites worldwide
- Understanding of different cultures and methods among other Disney lines of business, such as Operations, Entertainment, and Walt Disney Imagineering
- Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Communication, English, Business Administration, Technical field

The hiring range for this position in Anaheim, CA is $126,800 to $170,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
