This role can be based on either of our island destinations in The Bahamas, Disney Castaway Cay, or Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.
As Island Operations Director, you will execute and sustain the island operational vision across all lines of business, leveraging the overall strategic vision of the island experience. You will translate and integrate this vision into our strategic operating plan focused on innovation and continuous process improvements.
You will oversee the day to day operational aspects of the island including but not limited to overall island infrastructure, the guest, cast and crew experience, asset management, inventory control, construction, upkeep, maintenance and repair of all island facilities & equipment, and cast/crew training, You will lead, develop and collaborate with a team of dynamic leaders who will support our cast in bringing the island guest experience to life.
You will report to the Director, Island Operations and regularly partner with the (shoreside) Manager, Island Projects & Operations, on a continual basis.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all day-to-day operational aspects of the island operation, including but not limited to overall island infrastructure, guest, cast and crew experience, inventory control, construction, upkeep, maintenance and repair of all island facilities & equipment, cast/crew training, and coordinating other related activities with the appropriate DCL shore side and shipboard leadership.
- Responsible for strategic delivery of island facilities for guest experience and back-of-house facilities.
- Execute and sustain the operational vision of island operations across all lines of business, leveraging the overall strategic vision of the island experience; translate and integrate the vision into strategic operating plans focused on innovation and continuous process improvements.
- Drive enhanced guest, cast/crew and financial results considering the current competitive environment, cast engagement and growing expectations.
- Serve as on-island representation for Disney Cruise Line with local Bahamian governmental agencies; partner with Dir-Island Operations to address daily matter related to island operations.
- Provide overall strategic and operational direction, daily leadership, coaching, development, and mentoring for all direct reports overseeing the various lines of business making up island operations; this is inclusive of recreation, animal programs, maintenance, environmental, island services, landscaping, pest control, guest transportation, the (Cast) galley, Cast office and payroll operations, security & safety, Human Resources and medical.
- Proactively collaborate and coordinate key business decisions with significant impact to line of business leadership, ship/shore side partners, the Director Island Operations (future) and Vice President-Port Strategy, Development & Ops; connect the shore side strategy development and shipboard Guest experience with the island operational tactics.
- Drive innovation and process optimization efforts as a leader and support the overall experience mindset to ensure seamless and continuous guest experiences.
- Manage and monitor all financial profit and operating expenses including revenue generation, cost containment, and resource optimization for the island; oversee budgets, labor management, etc.
- Actively contributes to the preparation of the annual operating plan.
- Partner with Dir-Island Operations and designated island and shore side teams to oversee daily progress of island facility enhancements and upgrades; report back on construction projects and guest experience enhancements.
- Partner with shore side Recruiting & Labor/Scheduling to manage and fulfill local recruitment & staffing needs.
- Actively champion data driven engagement drivers and utilize metric and operations indicators to measure, motivate and enhance cast performance.
Basic Qualifications:
- 5+years of resort, island, and/or passenger cruise ship operations experience.
- Proven knowledge and experience managing a resort operation encompassing multiple lines of business.
- Proven experience leading an employee population consisting of multiple levels.
- Proven experience collaborating with local Bahamian authorities and government agencies.
- Proven experience executing island hurricane preparedness and evacuation plans.
- Familiarity of local environmental laws, policies, and procedures.
- Knowledge of proper food safety & sanitation policies/practices.
- Familiarity with public health policies in the Bahamas purchasing and logistics knowledge.
- Ability to develop and lead an initiative or project as well as teams within an operation from conception to operation.
- Ability to manage conflict, influence senior management and be a trusted advisor.
- Able to uncover root cause of issues, analyze available options, and articulate solutions to support business objectives.
- Able to function as an internal coach to leaders, peers, and others by helping them identify and resolve issues, encouraging excellent management practices, anticipating internal organization issues, proposing solutions, and understanding the employee perspective.
Preferred Education
- Bachelor’s degree, Hotel Management diploma or equivalent work experience.

This role is based on one of Disney’s island destinations in The Bahamas (Abaco chain and/or Eleuthera)You must:
