This senior paralegal role in Corporate Legal will work under the supervision and guidance of an Assistant General Counsel. The work involves extensive collaboration across various departments and multiple lines of business, both domestically and internationally, including the Enterprise Social Responsibility and Environmental Sustainability teams, theme parks, ESPN, Consumer Products, television, studios, and Disney+, as well as marketing, intellectual property, and corporate communications departments with an emphasis on drafting agreements, content review and legal clearances for marketing and promotional materials.
What You Will Do:
Candidate will handle each stage of the contract process from intake, drafting, and negotiating through contract execution for various contracts which may include nondisclosure agreements, grant agreements, license agreements, and vendor agreements. Candidate will also be responsible for tracking agreements and maintaining the contract management system, as well as updating contract templates. Candidate will work closely with clients to ensure timely processing of legal transactions and will coordinate extensively with other business units, as well as with subject matter experts across the company, to address various legal issues in connection with such transactions. Candidate will also assist with content review and legal clearances for marketing and promotional materials. Candidate is also responsible for management of the domestic cause marketing campaign registration process. Candidate will train clients on internal contract processes and the cause marketing registration process. Candidate will also assist with other legal projects, as needed.
Basic Qualifications:
At least 4+ years of paralegal experience in the legal industry, preferably with a law firm, corporation or professional setting.
Prior contract drafting experience
Excellent professional written and oral communication skills
Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills, including the ability to identify and analyze issues and devise solutions and strategies
Strong editing skills, including grammatical and proofreading expertise
Exceptional organizational, prioritization, and project management skills with the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and execute efficiently against multiple, high-priority and high-volume projects
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well in a team environment
Ability to work independently and collaborate with all levels of management, including executives
Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and elevate issues to leader, as necessary
Flexibility and willingness to adapt and work on a wide variety of projects for different clients as needed
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and office-related software
Consistently demonstrates a strong work ethic, approaches challenges with a constructive mindset and shows a genuine interest in role by seeking solutions proactively
Preferred Qualifications:
Content review and legal clearance experience preferred
Experience working in the non-profit sector or corporate social responsibility department of a corporation
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent professional experience
Paralegal Certification, or commensurate education and work experience as set forth by the American Bar Association and any applicable state codes (JD’s will be considered)
The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $85,800.00 to $115,000.00 per year based on a 40 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
