This internship position is based in Orlando, Florida.

What you will do

As a member of the Disney Signature Experiences (DSE) Safety team, you will partner and interact with various departments on the coordination of Cast and Guest safety.

  • Provide support to the team and assist with the completion of a variety of responsibilities
  • Develop job task analyses to resolve site-specific safety requirements such as engineering controls, equipment specifications, machine guarding requirements, personal protective equipment, training, and other controls
  • Review operational documentation and training materials for accuracy and completeness of safety content
  • Assist in safety, health, and sanitation/food safety audits, report findings, and help in the formulation of corrective action plans
  • Assist in the analysis of safety critical processes and development of tiered auditing programs for varying lines of business
  • Conduct field surveys such as heat surveys, indoor air quality, noise dosimetry, ventilation surveys, etc, report on findings, develop mitigations, and follow up on implementation
  • Assist with incident investigations, developing mitigations, and evaluating mitigation performance
  • Evaluate incident and near-miss trend data and make recommendations for mitigation strategies

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Self-starter with demonstrated shown initiative - able to balance multiple tasks and priorities
  • Illustrate strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal skills
  • Shown strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information
  • Comfortable functioning in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment

Preferred qualifications

  • Prior related work experience is desired, including co-op/intern programs with a focus on Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, and/or Safety Auditing

Education

  • Currently enrolled at an accredited 4-year college or university majoring in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related major
  • Junior, Senior, or recent a graduate status by arrival date

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) before participation in the internship program OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization

Additional Information

  • Must follow The Disney Look appearance guidelines
  • Must have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
  • The approximate dates of this internship are January 2025 through June 2025
  • Must be fully available for the duration of the internship (approximately 40 hours each week)
