As a Marine Claims Representative, you will play a key role in supporting Disney's corporate risk and claims function by managing marine injury, illness, and property damage claims that impact our global operations. Responsibilities:
In this role, you will administer a portfolio of marine claims from first notice through resolution, ensuring each file is handled accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with departmental guidelines and corporate objectives. Working closely with fellow claims representatives, internal stakeholders, and external partners, you will apply sound judgment to evaluate exposure, escalate high-risk matters, and drive timely, cost-effective outcomes that support Disney's global operations and reputation. This role matters because effective claims handling safeguards the company's people, brand, and resources, and requires strong analytical skills, clear communication, collaboration, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
· Administer marine injury, illness, and property damage claims while accounting for complex maritime considerations and applicable regulations.
· Review claim files in accordance with departmental operating guidelines, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and appropriate action plans.
· Process medical invoices and related documentation in a timely and accurate manner to support efficient claim resolution.
· Drive timely resolution of property damage claims, balancing service, cost-effectiveness, and compliance requirements.
· Identify incidents with significant exposure and escalate appropriately to senior claims professionals or leadership.
· Place the P&I Club (insurer) on notice for incidents with potential excess coverage exposure and collaborate with them through resolution.
· Review claim files for timeliness, accuracy, and quality of documentation, updating strategies to move files toward successful and cost-effective outcomes.
· Administer litigated claims, including comprehensive case evaluation, coordination with legal partners, and monitoring of litigation milestones.
· Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information and ensure compliance with internal policies and applicable laws.
· Leverage automated claims administration and management systems to document activities, track progress, and generate reports.
· Partner effectively with internal stakeholders and external vendors, demonstrating strong relationship-building, negotiating, and influencing skills.
· Manage workload under deadline pressures, prioritizing multiple tasks while maintaining high standards of organization and attention to detail.
Required Qualifications:
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate complex marine claim scenarios.
· Demonstrated ability to work both as a collaborative team member and as an independent worker managing individual claim files.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to deliver concise and informative claim summaries.
· Proficiency with automated claims administration and management systems and general computer skills in a Windows environment (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks under deadline pressure.
· Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
· Effective relationship-building, negotiating, and influencing skills when working with internal and external stakeholders.
· Comfort working in a fast-paced, innovative corporate environment supporting a global entertainment business.
· Minimum Required Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Risk Management, Maritime Studies, or a related field.
· Valid 6-20 All-Lines Adjuster's License with the State of Florida.
· Years Of Experience: 2+ years of experience in claims handling, preferably with exposure to marine or maritime-related claims.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Bilingual communication skills to support a diverse, global workforce and guest population.
· Experience processing and handling crew maritime-related claims, including injury and illness matters.
· Background working within or supporting large, global, or entertainment-focused organizations.
· Demonstrated success in an early career role requiring independent work, sound judgment, and the ability to explain complex information to varied audiences.
· Advanced education such as a master's degree or additional coursework in Risk Management, Insurance, Maritime Law, or Business.
The hiring range for this position in Florida is $68,600 to $91,900 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
