The Senior Show Systems Specialist supports the operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of all Disney Cruise Line Show Control systems and equipment fleet-wide. They will play a key role in developing short-term and life-cycle sustainment solutions, as well as perform software engineering tasks including analysis, testing, requirements validation, maintenance, inspection procedures and installation. Additionally, they work with multiple partners from all levels of the organization to determine data and requirements driven technical solutions.

What You Will Do

  • Support the operation and maintenance of all Disney Cruise Line Show Control systems fleet-wide. 

  • Maintain and debug software in multiple languages.

  • Ensure design specifications for Cybersecurity and networking compliance are maintained.

  • Collaborate with the Technical Training Manager to develop training of Show Control system operators.

  • Conduct SQS audits of Show Control Systems 

  • Partner with shoreside counterparts to develop long term replacement cycle budgets and/or to influence design ask in regard to new-builds, show refreshes, or equipment replacement.

  • Partners with Disney Cruise Line Safety team to ensure compliance with set policies and procedures as well as all maritime and ship safety standards and Flag compliance.

  • Ensure company safety standards are met in partnership with Worldwide Safety team.

  • Partners with Walt Disney Parks & Resorts Entertainment Standards team to ensure company standards compliance.

  • Collaborates with shoreside Entertainment Technical Leadership, Disney Cruise Line Safety partners and the Standards and Sustainment team to ensure Safety Management Systems and Operating Guideline documentation is up to date and in accordance with current safety and regulatory practices.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum five years show production experience in a similar role, preferably as a Master Electrician, or Show Control Systems operator.

  • Ability to read, understand and translate multiple software languages (C, C++, C#, Delphi, Node JS).

  • Hands-on experience coding, testing, debugging and deployment for large scale software solutions.

  • Experience operating and maintaining Real-time Operating System software.

  • In-depth understanding of network communication and protocols.

  • Familiarity with different communication methodologies (DMX, TCP/UDP, Serial, etc).

  • Understanding of PLC software implementation.

  • Knowledge and understanding of motor control functionality and theory.

  • Knowledge and understanding of Real-time Operating System software development.

  • Knowledge and understanding of SIL compliant safety solutions within a PLC/RTOS environment.

  • Available and willing to work weekends, holidays and third shift, as needed.

  • Willingness to travel extensively on various domestic and international assignments as needed for Disney Cruise Line and related projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience installing and troubleshooting electric motor, hydraulic and pneumatic actuators.

  • Familiarity with show controller hardware (AMX, Navigator, Beckhoff, TwinCAT, V16, or similar devices).

  • Understanding of Ladder Logic.

  • Experience with grandMA lighting consoles, SMPTE time code or MIDI controlled equipment

  • Experience with video projection systems and theatrical special effects.

  • Knowledge of stage automation systems.

  • Knowledge of broadcast video systems.

Education

  • B.S. in Computer Science, or BA in Theatre with focus in technical systems
