About the Role & Team

Financial Reporting is the organization within the Controllership that leads and facilitates the segment’s financial reporting processes, including the production of all deliverables and supporting analysis for SEC reporting and segment management reporting. In addition, the team has direct responsibility for the financial statement consolidation of the individual financial reporting processes for business areas within the parks and resorts segment. Specifically, the Travel Accounting team supports the sales and fulfillment process related to package sales sold thru the Walt Disney Travel Company (WDTC).

This Senior Financial Reporting Analyst supports the Travel Accounting Team. This position is responsible for the month-end financial close process through G/L account analysis, prepare and review of adjustment journal entries, and balance sheet accounts reconciliation. This position supports business package sales and deferral processes, SOX compliance, and ad hoc analysis at management's request. This position is responsible for travel agent commissions driven by WDTC travel packages sold through TravelBox. This position works with various partners on product configurations and setup to ensure proper commission calculations in TravelBox. This position will also assist in system enhancements, and sustainment responsibilities including requirement gathering, testing, and implementation of processes and reporting related to TravelBox and downstream systems that support the Travel Company business. This position requires a professional that is highly motivated and a self-starter. This individual must be able to develop professional relationships with various business partners, analyze and decipher accounting data to accurately review the department’s reporting obligations. They must be able to identify problems and develop innovative solutions to further efforts toward continuous process improvements. What You Will Do

  • Partnering with business partners on product (WDTC travel packages) configuration and setup for both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort in source system (TravelBox) and downstream systems (LILO/DREAMS, Opera, Horizon, and Galaxy)

  • Establishing accounting processes in the source system (TravelBox)

  • Leading all aspects of commission payments to travel agencies for both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort including dispute resolution

  • Preparing monthly balance sheet account reconciliations

  • Testing TravelBox programming enhancements/updates from an accounting perspective

  • Ensures compliance with GAAP and SOX guidelines as well as various control and compliance procedures

  • Identify process improvements and lead various efficiency projects

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum 3-5 years accounting experience

  • Proactive, highly motivated, detail oriented, self-starter, and a champion of change

  • Strong understanding of general Finance and Accounting processes (including internal controls) to ensure financial integrity and control requirements are met (including SOX compliance)

  • Ability to prepare and present information to support decision making through effective “storytelling” (both written and verbal) to audiences of all levels of the organization persuasively, articulately, and with full command of the topic

  • Strong leadership qualities, attention to detail, & organization skills including the ability to plan and prioritize work and handle multiple priorities

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships and work on cross-functional teams

  • Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously with very strict adherence to deadlines

  • Identifies process improvement opportunities and provides solutions

  • Ability to be flexible with work schedule

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with TravelBox, LILO, Opera, Horizon, and/or Galaxy

  • Experience with travel agency commissions

  • Experience leading people

  • Experience performing testing efforts to validate financial requirements

  • Experience applying ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition) in a practical business setting

  • Experience with SOX compliance including identifying risks in accounting processes and implementing appropriate internal controls
