The approximate date of this internship is May/June 2026 to August/September 2026 and will be located in Orlando, FL.
What You Will Do
We are seeking a Character Plaster Intern who will work “hands on” projects and participate with field art direction of Character Facades, Rockwork and Hardscape assignments. This requires an entry-level understanding of three-dimensional creative intent, problem solving and their application through the design, production, & field art direction process! As a member of the Character Plaster team, assignments will include participating in and sharing the design, execution and art direction goals of the department on 1st and 3rd shifts. Working environments will vary from the character plaster documentation library to elevated scaffolding platforms on construction sites.
You will have the opportunity to…
- Sculpt clay or foam models
- Participate with the building of rebar and lath armatures
- Assist with development of the desired concept with design team leader
- Help to integrate specific design elements and creative problem solving regarding materials usage into overall design packages
- Contribute scope details for individual design elements in preparation for reviews of all show design documents
- Participate with art direction and hands on sculpting of cement plaster and FRP in rockwork, character facades or specialized dimensional elements for sample programs and field production projects
- Participate in the field art directing of character pavement and transfer of data to the hardscape documentation web site
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Working knowledge of dimensional design and construction or set design and production
- Successful team experiences with specific goals or objectives
- Intuitive approach to resolving conflict and working towards solutions within a team
- Knowledge of available team resources and how to use them effectively in order to meet the team's creative objective
- Valid Driver’s License required
Preferred Qualifications
- 2-4 years in three dimensional design, sculpture or theatrical production
- Previous Disney experience
- Previous experience with reading blue prints and or CAD files pertaining to dimensional details and layout
- Functional proficiency with basic hand and carpentry shop power tools
- Knowledge from working with gypsum plaster, steel and concrete
- Fabrication of architectural or dimensional models
- Participation with large scale construction projects

Education
- Currently enrolled as a junior or higher attending an accredited college/university earning a degree in theater, fine arts, environmental design, or related field
Eligibility Requirements & Program Information
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:
- Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Possess unrestricted work authorization
- Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.

The pay rate for this role in Orlando, FL is $26.50 per hour for undergraduate students and $27.50 per hour for graduate level students.
