About the Role & Program:

The ABC News Digital group is responsible for creating, distributing and optimizing ABC News content across all platforms.

ABC News is seeking an SEO intern to assist in executing daily and long-term search strategy across ABC News brands and optimizing digital and video content across all platforms. This individual will work across all areas of search strategy for multiple teams. In addition, this position will help optimize video content for discoverability on YouTube.The candidate should have strong news judgment and a solid understanding ofeditorial workflows and strategies. They should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, demonstrating impeccable judgment and collaborating across teams.

This internship is a full-time, six-month commitment in the New York, New York area from June 2026-January 2027.

What You Will Do:
As an SEO intern, you will support with search strategy across all ABC News brands by optimizing videos, live streams, and digital articles for traditional search engines and LLMs. You will monitor real-time trends using search tools like Google Trends and SEMrush to surface editorial opportunities and provide actionable insights to teams across the news division. Collaborating closely with editorial and video departments, you’ll apply best practices to everything from breaking news and special projects to evergreen lifestyle content. This fast-paced role requires a detail-oriented individual with a passion for audience growth and a strong desire to master the evolving digital news landscape.

On any given day you might:

  • Optimize daily YouTube videos and live streams by drafting titles, descriptions, tags, and CTAs aligned with trending topics and audience intent

  • Assist in optimizing with keywords, links, and clear headings for traditional search, answer engines, and LLMs

  • Monitor search and YouTube trends using tools like Google Trends, SEMrush, and YouTube Studio to surface timely editorial and video opportunities

  • Assist in compiling daily and ad hoc search trend notes to multiple teams across the news division

  • Partner with editorial and video teams to apply best practices across headlines, metadata, playlists, and recurring video series

  • Assist with SEO support for breaking news, evergreen content, and special projects, including eCommerce and lifestyle coverage

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Strong interest in SEO, YouTube, digital video, and audience growth

  • Understanding of SEO best practices and emerging AI discoverability strategies

  • Comfortable working with data, trends, and performance metrics

  • Curious, detail‑oriented, and eager to learn in a fast‑moving news environment

  • Familiarity with analytics tools is a plus, but not required

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:

  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.

  • Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.

  • Be at least 18 years of age

  • Possess unrestricted work authorization

 

Additional Information

  • Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship

  • Fully available from June 2026 through January 2027

  • Fully available from Monday through Friday, primarily, and occasionally nights and weekends for the duration of the internship, 40 hours each week

  • Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the New York, New York area

  • Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work


The pay rate for this role in New York is $22.50 per hour.
