About the role & program:

ABC News is seeking a creative, detail-oriented, and digitally savvy Social Media Intern to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with high-profile talent, producers, and digital teams to help shape how ABC News & Good Morning America stories are told and shared on social media, specifically across TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, X and Threads.  This hands-on, fast-paced opportunity ideal for someone passionate about digital storytelling, breaking news, and social media.

This intern will play a key role in supporting the production of social-first content across 24/7 digital platforms, with a focus on ABC News handles.

This internship is a full-time, six-month commitment in the New York, New York area from June 2026-January 2027.

What you will do:

  • Design daily news graphics

  • Support the development and editing of social-first videos

  • Participate in brainstorms, research, and pitching creative ideas

  • Help track trends on social media and audience engagement

  • Collaborate with producers and editors across TV and digital

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous experience (academic or internship) in journalism (print or broadcast or digital); television, news and news media production; and/or television news script writing; social media management

  • Video editing experience including editing videos using Adobe Premiere, creating graphics using Canva and Photoshop and writing captions for all social platforms using SEO best practices

  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills

Education:

  • Junior or Senior year required

  • Major or previous coursework in Communications and Journalism, or related major preferred

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:

  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.

  • Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.

  • Be at least 18 years of age

  • Possess unrestricted work authorization

 Additional Information

  • Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship

  • Fully available from June 2026 through January 2027

  • Fully available from Monday through Friday, primarily, and occasionally nights and weekends for the duration of the internship, 40 hours each week

  • Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the New York, New York area

  • Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work

The pay rate for this role in New York is $22.50 per hour. Select benefits may be provided as part of the compensation package, such as medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
