Job Summary:

Do you have a passion for supporting entertainment offerings and special events? We are looking for a Part-Time Costume Specialist Senior to support our Costuming department! This unique role supports the Audio-Animatronic Ride Crew and the Disney Character Event group. The Audio-Animatronic Crew will be based out of Epcot and will support the unique costuming needs of the Audio-Animatronic figures located across the property. You will conduct attraction walk-throughs, take on-site documentation photographs, and perform minor repairs and partial to full re-dressing of the figures. The Disney Character Events Costuming team assists with the hundreds of special events across Walt Disney World property including making deliveries, event setup, and dressing performers.

You will report to the Costuming Manager.

The pay rate for this role in Florida is $18.00 per hour.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare for special events by presetting and dressing specific costumes
  • Assist with the setup and strike of special entertainment events
  • Working autonomously without direct supervision in offsite or remote locations
  • Perform small hand-sewing repairs to keep an offering up
  • Potential travel for events beyond Walt Disney World property
  • Help dress performers including usage of technology components
  • Continual lifting, lowering, and sliding of boxes and containers and repetitively climbing ladders and stairs
  • Perform Attraction walk-throughs
  • Taking on-site documentation photos
  • Partial to full re-dressings of figures
  • Take detailed costuming inventory
  • Ensure costume show quality at all times
  • Minor repairs to character hard goods (halo repairs, minor gluing, eye lenses/lash replacement, etc.)
  • Work with small handheld tools (drill, rivet gun, dremel, etc.)
  • Working with various glues and epoxies
  • Working with and around costumes made of synthetic materials (fur, latex, Mylar, etc.)
  • Pack costumes for shipping and delivery with attention to detail
  • Performing specialty laundry procedures of unique and specialized fabrics or costumes

Basic Qualifications:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Possess a valid US Driver’s license
  • Receptive to working a variety of shift times that may include overnight hours, holidays, and weekends
  • Receptive to assisting performers in various stages of dress
  • Receptive to working indoors and outdoors in varying or extreme temperatures and weather conditions
  • Receptive to working in venues with low light levels and/or with theatrical special effects (fog, strobe lights, etc.)
  • Willing to drive company vehicles, including box trucks, SUVs, multi-passenger vans, and be able to utilize a manual transmission
  • Willing to be trained, certified, and operate heavy equipment such as a Roll Loader, Forklift, Scissor Lift, and WAV lift
  • Willing to work in confined spaces
  • Climb multiple ladders and staircases per shift
  • Prolonged standing throughout your shift
  • Work at elevations up to 30 feet
  • Lifting bins or objects to 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Costuming experience in a theatrical or themed entertainment capacity
  • Experience with supporting the costuming needs of performers
  • Experience with character or mascot building/dressing
  • Knowledge or experience with Microsoft Office Suite, GUS+, Smartsheet, and MATER

Additional Information:

SCHEDULE AVAILABILTY
Our Theme Parks and Resort Hotels operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and some shifts may start as early as 5:00am while some may end as late as 3:00am, 4:00am or 5:00am. Please note that the principles of seniority are used to schedule all roles.
