About Disney Cruise Line

Since launching in 1998, Disney Cruise Line (DCL) has established itself as a leader in the cruise industry, providing a setting where families can reconnect, adults can recharge and children can experience all Disney has to offer. Today, the award-winning Disney Cruise Line continues to expand its blueprint for family cruising with a fleet of five ships — the Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy and Disney Wish — and three more ships planned. One of these ships will exclusively homeport in Singapore for at least five years beginning in 2025, marking the cruise line’s debut in Southeast Asia.

About the Role

We are looking for a top-notch Manager, Public Relations to navigate the communications strategy for Disney Cruise Line Singapore. The manager will focus on strategic communications, editorial writing, PR event project management, and creative content development and media relations for our newest ship to homeport in Singapore from 2025. This position will report to the Senior Manager, Public Relations, DCL Singapore.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute a fully integrated PR and media relations strategy to launch and support the DCL Singapore business for the APAC region
  • Execute proactive, compelling media relations programs including itineraries, onboard experiences, stunts, media events and more
  • Write, edit and proofread flawless editorial content strategically crafted to convey key messages across a wide breadth and depth of platforms
  • Draft and develop FAQs to support announcements and media engagements
  • Develop and enhance relationships with key journalists and stakeholders, pitching and shaping stories that generate positive editorial coverage across both APAC and local SEA media.
  • Manage day to day efforts to maximize social media and online tools to drive and support the effective communications of key business messages
  • Manage PR agencies competently to deliver PR objectives
  • PR Event Management - working with appointed agencies in the areas of creative planning, development, budget management, production, execution and post-event evaluation/recap

Critical success factors for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Writing and editing: Talent for crafting and editing a wide range of materials to the highest of standards with a keen eye for detail. Proven ability to adapt to different styles, including press releases, fact sheets, blog posts, key messages, talking points, video scripts, social copy and more.
  • Storytelling: Extensive experience identifying stories and pitching story ideas to editors, business leaders and partners. 
  • Building relationships: Proven track record of establishing productive business connections with media contacts and influencers, to secure coverage in news outlets and platforms.
  • Experience in working within a matrix organization: Be adept at navigating stakeholders, cross functional teams and be comfortable with pitching and selling ideas across various business functions.
  • Regional experience: Experience and knowledge in working with media/ influencers across the APAC region would be an advantage
  • Diversity and inclusion: All DX communication reflects the company’s commitment to Inclusion and both the Snr PR Manager and the PR manager must maintain this throughout planning, creation and delivery.
  • Business acumen: Understand and visualize how the PR function supports larger commercial objectives, thereby having the ability to align stories, messaging, campaigns and other work with broader business objectives, strategies and goals.
  • Project management: Experience executing tactics from start to finish (including PR events, announcements, stunts, productions and more), managing budgets and measuring results.

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience with demonstrated success in communications and public relations
  • Knowledge and experience within the earned media landscape across SEA, and the APAC region
  • Experience working with media, including digital, broadcast and print with a track record of placing and shaping stories. Existing relationships preferred
  • Understanding of the SEA Travel industry, cruise industry experience preferred.
  • Understanding of social media platforms, concepts and strategy
  • Proven ability to generate big ideas and create compelling public relations campaigns for maximum coverage
  • Experience in PR event project management and the ability to structure and manage multiple initiatives at the same time and drive them to completion
  • Availability to work some evenings and weekends with the ability to travel (25%) on both the ship, and across APAC Markets.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (Communications, Public Relations) or equivalent work experience
