This role is considered Hybrid, which means the employee will work 2-3 days onsite at a Company designated location and occasionally from home.
Position Summary
As a VFX Editor you will set up and complete all editorial work as requested from a Supervisor, Lead Editor or Production on feature or episodic projects.
You will communicate with the client editorial team and maintain the editorial timelines and databases with the latest client changes and internal versions from multiple artist disciplines.
You will ideally have 3+ years experience as a VFX Editor in a Production and VFX facility environment.
What You’ll Do
Communicate with production team and client editorial; including tracking all stages of the client cuts, internal cuts and iterations
QC and ingest plates, consolidated media and on-set reference material provided by clients and scan facility
QC Editorial client deliverables and prepare Avid media for upload
Update sequences with new dailies from VFX artists and outsource vendors
Request scans from the client editorial and/or scan facility
Maintain the in-house editorial database tracking render lengths and adjusting cut lengths according to client updates for assigned show(s)
Provide abbreviated cuts and material for client reviews
Output sequence movie files, AIFF audio files, and EDLs for CG as specified by Production
Show wrap-up duties including various archiving tasks and editing finals and awards reels.
Provide line-up information for retimes and/or post-moves to artists and supervisors.
Perform special projects under the supervision of the Lead Editor, Production Manager or VFX Supervisor, including show, bidding reels or providing visual reference for production
What We’re Looking For
3+ years experience as a VFX Editor in a Production and VFX facility environment with a solid understanding of VFX pipelines and team structure
A self starter who independently, collaborative and maintains positive relationships within ILM Vancouver, as well as global teams
Strong ability to multitask and meet deadlines while working under tight schedules
An effective communicator, adept at working with a diverse group of colleagues
Comprehensive understanding of editorial materials and workflows (e.g., formats, codecs, transcoding, exporting etc)
Previous experience with editorial databases
Strong desire to edit creatively
Nice to have
Previous experience with Avid Media Composer.
Adobe Premiere Pro
DaVinci Resolve
Microsoft Excel
Command-line environments (ie: Linux)
Experience with ingesting performance capture and witness camera

The hiring range for this position in Vancouver is C$66,100.00 to C$84,500.00 per year based on a 40-hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A full range of medical, financial, and/or other variable pay or benefits, may be offered dependent on the level and position offered.
